SILVER LAKE TOWN HALL
604 N. JEFFERSON ST.
SILVER LAKE, IN 46982
MARCH 22, 2010
PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE:
ROLL CALL:
Council Members Linda Baker, Ron Jones, and Gale Owens were present. Also present were Angela Glass, Clerk-Treasurer, Jasun Blocher, Town superintendent,
NEW BUSINESS:
The meeting was called in order to discuss where the storm drains run on Poplar Street. Citizen, Teresa Howell, has filed several complaints about storm water coming into her basement. She has also had issues with water in her basement when the towns water tower overflows, which does not happen very often. Miss Howell feels that her perimeter drains could possibly be hooked to the storm drain. Miss Howell told the town that she has capped off her basement drain and she is still getting water in her basement. After much discussion, Jasun Blocher, Town Superintendent, told Teresa that Weed, a company that has the proper equipment, would be coming to clean out the storm drains within the next two weeks. Jasun felt that maybe if the storm drains were cleared of debris the issue could possibly go away. Miss Howell was also informed that the town is applying for a storm water grant for the second time. The town was turned down on the first round of grants. The town is also applying for a grant to purchase a new jet vac machine that is large enough to clean the storm drains without having to contract a company at a high cost. Jasun did say that if cleaning the drains did not rectify the problem he could possibly try and make a temporary plug to that storm drain. Because we have no maps of the storm drains it is difficult to know where they all go. It is believed that Teresa Howell's house is the only house on that storm drain.
The meeting was adjourned with no conclusion to rectify the issue. Suggestions were made and the issue is still being addressed as it is all over the TOwn of Silver Lake.
ADJOURN:
7:05 PM- Linda made the first motion to adjourn, Ron seconded, motion carried.
