MEETING MINUTES - JANUARY 12th, 2010

REGULAR MEETING
JANUARY 12, 2010
SILVER LAKE TOWN HALL
7:00 P.M.
PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE
ROLL CALL: Council Members Gale Owens and Ron Jones were present. Council Member Linda Baker was absent. Also present was Angie Glass, Clerk-Treasurer, Craig Hollopeter, Town-Marshal, John Conley representing the Fire Department, and Adam Turner sitting in for Vern Landis, Town Attorney, and Town Superintendent Jasun Blocher was absent.
MINUTES: Ron made first motion to accept meeting minutes from the December 28, 2009 meeting. Gale seconded, motion carried with no further discussion.
CITIZENS: Marie Rose wanted to thank the town guys for cleaning up the snow around her house.
OLD BUSINESS: NONE
NEW BUSINESS:
Lions Club wanting electric- Wayne Spratt, representing the Lion's Club was present to ask the council if the town would continue to pay for the electricity for Christmas decorations if the Lions Club were to buy additional decorations. Both council members had no problem with the Lions Club taking on this task.
Changing locks for new EMS- Ron asked John if they would have someone look into moving some of the lights at the fire department and get back with the council with the cost. Angie was asked to get with Morris Jones, Fire Chief, about either changing the locks or having a key pad put on the door for the new EMS.
DEPARTMENT HEADS:
Craig- still waiting to hear from Charles Braun on when he will start the revision of the SOP's.
John- Fire Department had 2 runs since the last meeting. Last year they had 60 runs total: 21 fires, 11 accidents, 7 medic assists, 14 mutual aids, 4 alarms, and 14 others.
LETTERS:
Letters were received from Rex Boxell, Archie Caudill, and Phil Shalley for water leaks. Gale made first motion to adjust the sewage bill for all three customers, Ron seconded, motion carried with no further discussion.
CLAIM DOCKET:
Ron made first motion to accept the claim docket for $82,405.64. Gale seconded, motion carried with no further discussion.
Just before closing two gentlemen came in from Just Energy. They wanted the Council to sign up to lock in the gas rates at $.96 per therm. Clerk-Treasurer, Angela Glass, told the Council that gentlemen were in her office earlier in the week and that she did not feel comfortable locking in the rates. They were offering a a3 year contract that would not automatically renew. The Clerk-Treasurer would be notified before any renewal took place. Gale made the forst motion to accept the Just Energy Contract, Ron seconded, motion carried.
MISCELLANEOUS:
The next regular meeting will be February 9, 2010 at 7:00 P.M. at the Silver Lake Meeting Hall.
Census testing is going to take place every Thursday through February 25th at 2:00 at the Silver Lake Meeting Hall.
